GRID PRE-SCREEN · GREAT BRITAIN

See which sites have grid capacity before you shortlist them.

A fast screen of one site or many in Great Britain. For each one, how close it is to published grid headroom, who already holds capacity there and what else could stand in the way.

Available today for battery storage sites. Screening for data centres and electrolysers is planned. Screening through an API is in early access.

Dotted hills carry four pylons whose wires sway, with a small shed on the right marking the site. In the foreground a river sits at 20 of a 38 unit gauge, with an amber buoy for the request and a bird gliding in the space above it, to show 38 MW of headroom against a 20 MW request and 18 MW to spare. All figures are samples.

WHY TEAMS CHOOSE IT

Why developers choose it

Shortlist with confidence

Rule sites in or out on grid before you spend on land and surveys.

Know who is already there

See the projects already holding capacity near each site.

Spot other blockers early

Land and planning constraints come with every screen.

WHAT YOU GET

What the screen shows for each site

Nearest connection points

The substations closest to the site, and how far away they are.

Published headroom

The operator's own figure and rating, with its date.

Capacity already taken

Registered projects holding capacity nearby, and where the queue stands.

A rough cost class

A guide to how heavy a connection is likely to be. It is not an operator's quote.

Land and planning flags

The main constraints on the site.

Better sites nearby

A ranked list of stronger sites close by, where there are any.

WHO IT IS FOR

Who is it for?

Battery developers

Compare a list of sites on grid in one pass.

Land teams and agents

Know which sites are worth taking to a landowner.

Large energy users, later

Data centre and electrolyser screening is planned.

HOW IT WORKS

How it works

01

Send your sites

Points or boundaries, and the MW you have in mind.

02

We screen each one

Grid, capacity held nearby and the main land constraints.

03

Compare side by side

One short report, and the same results as data.

GOOD TO KNOW

Good to know

  • The screen covers Great Britain.
  • Headroom is the figure the operator has published, on its stated date. It is not a connection offer.
  • Low voltage headroom is not published, and queue positions are only partly public.
  • Data centre and electrolyser screening is planned and is not available today.
FREQUENTLY ASKED

Questions about Grid pre-screen

Is the headroom figure the same as the network operator's?

Yes. We show the figure the operator published, with its date and the operator's own rating, and we name the operator on every row.

Does it tell me who else is queuing at the substation?

It shows the projects on the public registers at that point, with their size and status. Contract terms and the full queue are not public.

Can I send several sites at once?

Yes. You can send a list of sites, and the screening API takes several sites per call in early access.

Does it cover data centres or electrolysers?

Not yet. That is planned. The grid screen is available today for battery storage.

Is the headroom live?

No. It is the figure the operator last published, with its date.
